| Park in Shymkent |
First night in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): Azry introduces us to his friends and students from Kazakhstan: Maira, Meryert and Bakhyt. The three are incredibly joyful and enthusiastic! We take their phone numbers – just in case.
31st of July: after Kyrgyzstan we are back in Kazakhstan. We need a place in Shymkent – on our way to Aktau. But… we can't find any Couchsurfer, nobody replies to our requests on the website. What to do? We decide to ask Bakhyt if she is there and… yes, she is! And she offers to welcome us! Our good Karma is definitely following us.

We reached Shymkent in the afternoon and she picked us up with her twin. We stayed at one of her sisters 's place. The family left the apartment for the three of us! We didn't expect so much comfort.
She was very welcoming and took care of us: she helped us to find a way to Aktau (because the direct train was unfortunately full), to get dollars for the ferry boat, to buy train tickets and to go to the pharmacy! She cooked for us and helped Hannah who got very sick to get better – and now we know that the Kazakh medicine is based on.. a lot of tea!
Her family seemed to be very worried about us. They were so attentive! Serik, her twin brother, advised us for the tickets and called one of his friends in Kyzylorda, our next stop, to help us at the train station there. One of her sisters' husband drove us to the bank and to the ticket office and her oldest sister brought us to the train station very late in the evening. They were wondering how it was possible to travel in the country alone and without really speaking any Russian! We were touched by their concern.
And, of course, we had fun together: one evening we went to the attraction park, we had also nice conversations and we spent an amazing afternoon with her, Serik and Ali, their nephew: park, pizza and ice cream… what else?

So...
Thank you Azry for introducing us to the Kazakh girls
Thank you Bakhyt's family for making everything easier for us
and most of all, thank you Bakhyt for your generosity!
